WebCT

E-learning strategy

The School’s e-learning strategy 2008-2013 [1] was launched in June 2008 [2]. One of the key objectives is to ensure a basic level of e-learning in all modules (web-supported) through to a percentage that are fully integrated into online delivery (web dependent). In order to meet this objective over the long term, all courses will be transferred onto WebCT starting with the Diploma/BSc in Nursing and Master of Nursing Science courses in September 2008, followed by the Learning Beyond Registration modules in January 2009. The course websites will be phased out over time.

WebCT Workshops

A series of workshops is being held to introduce staff who have never used WebCT to the layout and functionality so that they are confident in accessing the course and module materials. The first two workshops were held on 16th and 24th July 2008. Information about future workshops will available soon. See the aim and learning objectives of the workshop ( 25kb)

If you would like to attend a workshop, please contact Lydia Jones as workstations are limited. The agenda will be informal and flexible so there is no need to attend for the whole time.

Procedures for creating WebCT modules

The Web and Media Team will arrange for all modules to be created on WebCT as part of the process for transferring course websites on to WebCT. If you need to create a WebCT course which is not specific to a module, the following procedures apply.

Contact Heather Wharrad or Richard Windle to find out if it is feasible to have your course on WebCT. If it is approved, please fill out the ‘New WebCT Course Request’ form ( 39kb).
Once the form is completed please send it to Lydia Jones. Lydia will log this request and pass it onto the IS Learning Team to create your WebCT course.
