Welcome to the Nanoscale and Microscale Research Centre

Hosted in the Physics Building from 2007 to 2015 as the Nottingham Nanotechnology and Nanoscience Centre, we have moved and expanded to new labs in the Cripps South building (previously the Cripps Computing Centre) in 2016, and are now the Nanoscale and Microscale Research Centre.

The Centre offers co-ordinated nanotechnology and microscale resources for pure and applied research and teaching.

The University has recognised strengths in key areas of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology. This includes Single Molecule Nanoscience, Bionanotechnology, Carbon Nanostructures, Nanoparticulates, Nanopharmaceuticals and Nanoscale Assembly.

The centre hosts the Liquid Phase Photoelectron Spectroscopy (LiPPS) machine, installed in 2013 by Kratos Analytical Ltd. The existing Kratos Analytical Ultra-2008 XPS system has also been transferred to the NMRC.
