Biofunctional Surfaces and Materials
A range of interdisciplinary bottom-up and top-down technologies are being developed for the creation of biomimetic and biofunctional materials for applications in biomedical devices, biosensors, tissue-engineering scaffolds and drug delivery systems. Biofunctional materials and coatings are interrogated at the nanometre to micron scale using a range of complementary approaches which include state of the art time-of-flight mass spectrometry, x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, electron microscopy, surface plasmon resonance, Raman and infra-red spectroscopy and a range of scanning probe microscopies.
