Online Mentor Update

Introduction

So, here we are with the 4th edition of the mentor update available as an online learning package.

As a mentor you are required to update your skills annually and in order to meet with NMC requirements, once every three years you should attend a face to face update locally. In the interim years, updates can be achieved by using the online update so if you have done this for the past two years, you will now need to attend a face to face update. Contact your local Division of Nursing Centre if you need information about mentor updates in your area by using the contacts listed below. The NMC state that: "Mentors and practice teachers must participate in annual updating; this is one of the requirements which they must meet in order to remain on the local register at triennial review. The annual updating process must include the opportunity to meet and explore assessment and supervision issues with other mentors/practice teachers (face to face) and explore as a group the validity and reliability of judgements made when assessing practice in challenge circumstances" (NMC 2009).
