RLO: Ventilation

Anatomy of ventilation (at rest)

Let’s take a closer look and name some important parts of the respiratory system that are involved in ventilation.

The nose, mouth, pharynx, trachea, bronchi and bronchioles form the airway that conducts air in and out of the lungs.

The diaphragm is a large sheet of skeletal muscle that separates the thorax from the abdomen. It’s the most important muscle of respiration.
