Welcome
As one way of reducing bias in systematic reviews, the Cochrane Skin Group aims to
identify all relevant RANDOMISED CONTROLLED clinical trials carried out on human beings, including those that are planned,
ongoing, or those that have been completed but not yet reported.
The Group has already established, and is continually building, a Specialised Skin Register
of trials that currently contains over 7500 published trials. This is available through the CENTRAL database
within the Cochrane Library.
The aim of the Ongoing Skin Trials Register is to inform everyone of all randomised controlled
THERAPEUTIC skin trials and so avoid duplication of effort. This searchable database conforms to the International
Committee of Medical Journal Editors guidelines (De Angelis et al. NEJM 2004;351:1250-1)
In addition, by registering trials prospectively, trialists will be able to declare their
main outcome measures up-front.
We ask registrants to lodge the protocol of their planned study with the Cochrane Skin Group and to inform us when their study has been published. We will then flag their trial with the publication details. It will be displayed for 6 months and then removed from the Ongoing Skin Trials Register.
