Professor W Angus Wallace was appointed Professor of Orthopaedic and Accident Surgery at the University of Nottingham in l985 at the age of 37. He is Honorary Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon to the Queen's Medical Centre, City Hospital Nottingham and Portland Training College for the Disabled in Nottinghamshire.

He is currently Dean of the Faculty of Medical Informatics of the RCSEd (2000-2002), President of the British Elbow and Shoulder Society (2001-2003) and Chairman of the National Sports Medicine Institute of the UK (1999-2002). He has just been elected Chairman of the Intercollegiate Board for Trauma and Orthopaedics (2002-2005). He has also held the following previous positions:- Vice-President of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (1997-2000), Chairman of the National Osteoporosis Society (1996-1998), and President of the British Orthopaedic Sports Trauma Association (1997-1999).

His special interests lie in the fields of shoulder surgery, sports injuries, osteoporosis, biomechanics and research into passenger safety in aircraft and cars.
