• Breast Cancer Information Clearing House, (State of New York) Mainly oriented to patients and familys, searchable NCI and ACS documents

• British Medical Journal This site contains the full text of all articles published in the weekly BMJ from July 1997. In addition it contains material which is unique to the website. Access is free free at least until the end of 1998.

• Mining Company Cancer Site Patient info primarily with links to other cancer related sites.

• CancerNet Page Cancer information, all statments available on the gopher server, some statements available in html format, searchable. (search of the gopher documents finds more info). HTML vs GOPHER

• CDC & ATSDR Home Page Links to CDC FTP site, MMWR source which is searchable, emerging infectious diseases, HAZDAT hazardous substance database. The MMWR files to download are in Adobe Acrobat format (with a .pdf extension). You can also download a copy of the Adobe Acrobat Reader (Mac, DOS, and Windows versions are available), including a limited version of Adobe Type Manager (ATM) for this to work. You can get an announcement of each new issue by email (including detailed instructions on how to download) by sending the message SUBSCRIBE MMWR-TOC to listserv@list.cdc.gov. You can get contents to the Emerging Infectious Diseases quarterly by sending the message SUBSCRIBE EID-TOC to the same address.

• CLINICAL CASES Department of Defense Includes Telemedicine, Radiology, Pathology, Obstetrics, Psychiatry, Emergency Medicine, Surgery and Internal Medicine.

• Combined Health Information Database from U.S. Goverment Agencies Lists abstracts, contact information, and health promotion materials from the Public Health Service, the Centers for Disease Control, etc. Useful for ordering government pamphlets. Also has links to NIH and CDC.

• Cyberounds, on-line grand rounds. Free registration required. On-line moderated conferences, questions can be submitted. Chat area for discussions outside of conference topics. Not much pathology.

• Cyberspace Hospital, a virtual hospital with links to many web pages, good collection of peds, OB, pharmacy.

• NCI Physician Data Query- searchable index from Dana Farber Cancer Institute Cancer facts, physician info

• Digital Med Telemedicine info

• Emory Medical Library General internet info, internet resources list by subject including a good listing for pathology, also includes a very good listing of electronic journals, organized alphabetically and by whether full text or contents only

• List of medical FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions) List of medical topics, with contact people and which Usenet newsgroups they are discussed on.

• Frontiers in Bioscience is a peer- reviewed electronic journal: Information from many disciplines in biology and medicine. Email subscription: tabibzadeh@moffitt.usf.edu, in message put your name, the name of your organization, your telephone and fax numbers. "Virtual library" contains useful links & internet information.

• Galen II Library of Biomedical Resources with large selection of links.

• GASTROENTEROLOGY WEB Columbia University Gastrointestinal and liver disease resources including a manual for physicians, current papers in liver disease, and a well maintained list of links to gastoenterology net resources.

• General Health Info Hundreds of links to medical and health-related sites

• Hardin Meta Directory of Internet Health Sources A list of directories of internet resources, sorted by specialty, and by size within specialty has pathology and laboratory medicine listings

• The World-Wide Web Virtual Library: Biosciences (Harvard) A popular listing, organized by institution, by subject within institution, separate sublists available for Medicine, and Genetics.

• HealthGate Medical information, some fee based, including medical references, software reviews, patient info on diseases and tests.

• THE HEPATITIS INFORMATION NETWORK Comprehensive information on all types of hepatitis (Hepatitis A,B,C,etc.) for professionals and laypeople. Articles are reproduced from medical publications and all are written by the most prominent researchers in the field. Find out about the latest testing and treatment options. Hepatitis is a growing health concern worldwide and this site has up-to-date facts and statistics.

• Hopkins Bio-Informatics Home Page Collection of protein databases, Journal of Medical Imaging, other publications and databases, link to Millipore catalog, DOE human subjects database, and Genome Database

• Medscape(sm) - online patient care resource Aimed at professionals and consumers. Peer reviewed articles on AIDS, infectious diseases, urology, and surgery, stored literature searches and annotated links to relevant Internet resources.

• National Health Information Center a clearinghouse funded by federal dollars. (Links to Dept of Health and Human Services Homepage)

• National Institute of Allergy & Infectious Diseases has a collection of AIDS related resources, stuff about NIAID programs, some general references.

• Physicians' Online A www-based bulletin board for physicians only (US license required). Free medline searches. Discussion groups by specialty including pathology. Online databases, mostly dealing with drugs. Email for members. Can also dial in and use them as an ISP for a fee.
