Funding & Commercialisation
The School of Pharmacy has been highly successful in attracting research income from a variety of UK and international sources. Over recent times, the School’s grant portfolio has grown from £2.25M in 2001 to £3.96M in 2006, with over 50% of the total income (of over £17M since 2001) coming from the Research Councils and 30% from charities.
This income funds the sustainability and growth of its five Research Divisions. With our leading role in major initiatives in medicine, biological sciences and nanoscience, the School has long-standing interdisciplinary links and strong ties with the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries.
Our successful track record in transferring technologies to the marketplace has been recognised with the UK's most prestigious corporate accolade, The Queen's Award for Enterprise in the category of Innovation in 2007. Our successful spin-out company, Molecular Profiles Ltd, was awarded a separate Queens Award for Enterprise.
