Collaboration with Industry

Our strong Interaction with industry is demonstrated by collaborative projects with over 40 companies including representatives of major multinational pharmaceutical and healthcare companies. The 50% funding from AstraZeneca for the £2.5M EPSRC/AstraZeneca Doctoral Training Centre in Targeted Therapeutics reflects our strong relationship with industry. In addition, our EPSRC Collaborative Training Centre co-funds fellowships with small and large companies including Envirogene, Technostics, Molecular Profiles, Critical Pharmaceuticals and AstraZeneca. The School has also sought to nurture good strategic relationships with industry leaders some of whom are Special Lecturers and Professors within the School (e.g., Professor Mike Eaton from UCB-Celltech) who regularly visit the School to discuss research opportunities and advise on future industrial trends.

We work with industry in sectors which include:

  •  Pharmaceuticals
  •  Healthcare
  •  Food & consumer products
  •  Biotechnology
  •  Agrochemicals
  •  Environmental monitoring

Our industrial partners range from start-ups and SMEs to major multinationals, including global pharmaceutical companies. Many of these projects have resulted in long-term relationships.

In all cases we aim to match our expertise to the needs of our industrial partners and to promote best practice in project management, confidentiality and intellectual property issues.
