Ranked as one of the best of its kind in the major league tables, the School of Pharmacy at Nottingham is one of the most popular choices for undergraduate study in the UK. Established in 1925, the School has grown steadily and is now at the forefront of academic development and progress with more than 800 students currently following the four-year Master of Pharmacy degree course, in Nottingham and Malaysia. The course is fully accredited at both sites.
Our teaching was graded ‘excellent’ during a national Quality Assurance Assessment (QAA) audit, an external review of teaching quality. The QAA report highlighted the School’s ‘high-quality teaching, well-managed approach to assessment and systematic development of professional skills through the undergraduate programme’. Research is crucial to the pharmaceutical industry and our teaching staff are at the leading edge of scientific and healthcare developments.
In the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise, an independent review of research, the School was ranked number one in the UK according to ‘grade point average’ and 95 per cent of the School’s research was judged to be of international quality. That means that you will be learning from, and working with, international experts who can deliver the latest knowledge to the classroom. The School was judged to be the UK's top school of pharmacy in the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise. 95% of the School's research was judged to be of international quality and 35% world-leading. We have a number of research groups within the School, working across a range of areas. Their work will contribute significantly to your learning experience at Nottingham. It’s exciting to think that as you undertake your training, groundbreaking research work may be taking place in the next laboratory. You will also have the opportunity to make your own discoveries in the third year when you will conduct an individual research project alongside academic staff renowned in their field.
