Nottingham students re-brand philosophy magazine
Following the creation and rapid expansion of the Nottingham Philosophical Review since December 2009, the magazine has undergone a complete redesign and rebranding effort over the past 3 months. The magazine is now entitled Fink Magazine and has been subject to a complete overhaul which includes a brand new website, a complete overhaul of the magazine’s layout and a new social media presence on Twitter and Facebook!
When asked about the rebranding the founder and Editor-in-Chief Albert Weatherill (3rd year BA Hons Philosophy) said that “following our expansion into other universities across the UK, we were very keen to come up with a name that demonstrated the style and substance of the magazine as well as emphasizing that the magazine is for all students of Philosophy across the entire country. We’ve established a full design team who have been working very hard to give us a far more professional image and we’ve been thinking hard about how we can engage readers with our content. We hope our new website, Facebook and Twitter pages will give more students a chance to air their voice and share their thoughts with thousands of other students. All in all we’re pretty excited about the rebrand and we’re looking forward to what will hopefully be another good year for the magazine!”
Carrie Jenkins, Head of the Department of Philosophy, thinks "Fink Magazine is a fantastic opportunity for undergraduate philosophers to communicate about what interests them most. It’s a source of pride for the Nottingham philosophy department that our students are undertaking such an exciting project, and I’m looking forward to reading the new-look magazine and following Fink on Twitter!”
Fink Magazine is a digital magazine that is distributed to thousands of students across a number of British universities every month during term time. All their content is completely free and wholly reliant on the aspiring, and often underrated, minds and talents of students across the UK. Asked about their writers Albert explained that “we are always on the lookout for more contributors! As far as we’re concerned content is key and to achieve a variety of quality content we need to continue to expand our writing base”.
