Nanoscale and Single Molecule Mechanics

At a Glance

Who: The community of outstanding scientists working on nanoscale and molecular machines. What: One day meeting, featuring talks and poster presentations. When: Monday 14 July 2008, from 09.00 to 16.00 Where: School of Physics and Astronomy, University of Nottingham.

This one day meeting will focus on the latest advances in nanoscale and single molecule mechanics, featuring talks from many outstanding scientists working in this exciting sub-field of nanoscience.

Organised by the IoP Nanoscale Physics and Technology (NPT) Group and sponsored by the NPT and Thins Films and Surfaces (TFSG) groups, the motivation for the event is to bring together the community of researchers who work on solution-phase machines with those whose research involves the study of molecular and nanoscale mechanics under ultrahigh vacuum conditions. Despite dramatic differences in the experimental conditions, there exist important concepts that bridge both communities and which can be exploited in next-generation nanoscale and molecular machines.
