Physics & Astronomy recruit a number of high calibre international students to our postgraduate training programme each year. Most register for our three-year PhD programme but we also welcome applications for our Masters programmes.

English Language Qualification
For students whose first language is not English one of the following English Language qualifications is required which must not be more than 2 years old:
- IELTS 6.5 (no less than 6.0 in any element)
- CELE pre-sessional course final assessment of "Pass with Merit"
Advanced English Language Skills training is provided through the University of Nottingham’s Centre for English Language Education (CELE) to which our international postgraduates have full access. CELE offers a wide range of courses to support students with language and study skills demands of the research degree course in Physics & Astronomy. Courses focus on specific skills areas in the English language such as academic writing skills, academic reading and listening skills, grammar and vocabulary, academic and conversational speaking and pronunciation.
