Becoming a Physiotherapist

The Division of Physiotherapy offers a three year course, leading to a BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy.

The course aims to prepare students in all areas of practice fundamental to the needs of a newly qualified physiotherapist. For this, students must be able to exercise sound judgement in a variety of clinical situations, and be able to evaluate and adapt their therapeutic skills to meet the needs of the individual patient.

The course starts by teaching detailed anatomy, physiology and kinesiology (study of movement), relating these to practical skills which will later be used clinically. Teaching progresses to include the theory and physiotherapeutic management of core pathological conditions in the fields of neurology, health care of the elderly, cardio-respiratory and musculo-skeletal conditions.

We pride ourselves on the flexible approach to education that we offer in year three. In addition to the two compulsory modules you choose two option modules from the range available in each semester, enabling you to dictate your course of study based on individual interests and preferences.
