Alumni

Welcome!

We always have mixed feelings on Graduation Day: we’re pleased for you and wish you well in your lives, hoping that exciting and fulfilling times lie ahead. We’re also sad to see you go. So keep in touch because we love to know how our former students are, what they’re doing, and to help you to keep in touch with each other.

Keeping in Touch:

1. University Alumni Community:

Want to look up your old Nottingham friends? Fancy a change of career and need some advice? Join the University’s Alumni Community. The University has a thriving and well-supported alumni Office: Register with them to receive many benefits, including access to the Careers Centre, discounts, networks, reunions, publications and a whole range of different opportunities to get involved with the wider Nottingham Alumni network.

The Alumni Office organise the Nottingham Alumni Laureate Awards, in which outstanding former students are honoured. These are people who have demonstrated superb achievements throughout the world, either by making outstanding contributions to their communities, stimulating new ideas and services or showing exceptional dedication, creativity and leadership. If you know someone special who is worthy of recognition, you can nominate them. For more information on this award, email alumni-enquiries@nottingham.ac.uk

2. School of Politics and International Relations:

The School also keeps a mailing list and if you’d like to add you name to this, to receive a copy of our newsletter and invitations to School events, please email Lucy Sargisson.

Stay Involved ….

1. Alumni Reception:

For the past three years we have hosted a reception for our Alumni in the House of Commons. In 2008, this event celebrated the launch of our new Centre for British Politics. We were addressed by BBC’s Nick Robinson and joined by approximately 50 former students. Last year, we celebrated 50 Years of Teaching Politics at Nottingham University. Our event this year will be in June. To register for an invitation, please email Lucy Sargissson.

2. Public Lectures and Seminars:

The School hosts a number of events that you’re very welcome to join us, as speakers or audience-participant, if you’re within reach of Nottingham. These include:

All of these events are open to you as alumni of the School. For more, visit the Research Centre homepage .

3. Alumni Careers Event:

This is a new innovation by Lucy Sargisson, in her dual role of Careers Liaison and Alumni Officer. Last year for the first time we invited a group of former students to come and talk to our current students about their career experiences. This was a fantastic event, attracting over 200 students, all keen to hear about what it’s really like out there. If you’re willing to participate in one of these events, please contact Lucy Sargisson.

4. Podcasts:
