MA in Social and Global Justice

1 year full-time or 2 years part-time

This innovative programme considers what is perhaps one of the most relevant questions of our age: how should we live as global citizens?

Traditionally justice has been conceived as a quality of the polis, the city state and the nation state. Now however, we live in global times. How should we respond to the ever increasing integration of global economic and political systems? The big political questions of our day relating to the environment, poverty, basic liberties and democratic voice, all have a global dimension. This course considers how we should respond to these challenges.

Students taking this programme will automatically become members of the Centre for the Study of Social and Global Justice (CSSGJ); the first centre of its kind in the UK with a focus on global politics and global social movements.

Students are also invited to attend a series of talks given by distinguished practitioners from outside academia, which provide an opportunity for interaction with key figures from the world of politics and international relations.
