Graduating from Nottingham means that you have opened the door to an interesting and well paid career. Our students are highly regarded by employers because of the strong academic foundation and transferable skills that they gain during their degree course.
Our degree courses provide a firm foundation for a wide range of careers. Many of our students take an active role in politics throughout their time in the School, and after. Politics is the ideal academic discipline to study if you are interested in a career in politics or government. Other students go into a range of careers, including management, marketing, teaching, and broadcasting.
Each year a number of our graduates enjoy their degree course so much that they take further courses of study or research posts. Opportunities for further study within the School include taught postgraduate courses in Diplomacy, International Relations, International Security and Terrorism and European and Global Politics.
For those students who wish to continue with their studies following the successful completion of one of our MA programmes, the School offers MPhil/PhD and MRes degrees. Research degree supervision in most of the major sub-areas of the discipline of politics is offered by the increasing number of academic staff working in the School.
The University of Nottingham Centre for Career Development offers excellent careers guidance, information and resources, and holds workshops on CV writing, completing application forms and interview techniques. Nottingham is one of the top three universities most often targeted by the leading graduate employers in the UK, and the CCD organises employer-led events where companies visit the University to explain what they do and what they look for when recrutiing graduates.
