The University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus, in cooperation with the EU Malaysia Chamber of Commerce and Industry, is organising a conference titled, “The Political Economy of the EU Sovereign Debt Crisis” on February 14, 2012 from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm.

The conference is hosted to address the greatest challenge to date for the European Union, the debt crisis faced by the Eurozone.

“This conference is timely following the refinancing of Greek debt with help from Eurozone members,” said Christopher Napoli, Assistant Professor from The School of Politics, History and International Relations, The University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus and also a speaker at the conference.

This conference will examine the sovereign debt crisis from three perspectives. First, it will explain the origins of the crisis. Second, it will evaluate the future of the monetary union, as well as options for reform. Third, it will examine the threat of contagion of the crisis on the broader global economy.

All speakers have extensive knowledge of the EU and have studies the evolution of the Eurozone over the past decade.
