Professor Michael Freeden joins the School

The School of Politics and International Relations are delighted to announce the appointment of Michael Freeden as Professor of Political Ideology.

Professor Freeden has an outstanding record of research achievement, having founded both the Journal of Political Ideologies and the Centre for Political Ideologies. He has a deeply impressive body of published work, having made substantial contributions to both the study of political ideology and the history of liberalism. His 1996 work Ideologies and Political Theory reshaped scholarship in political ideologies and has become a landmark study. Professor Freeden was recently awarded the Medal for Science of the Institute of Advanced Studies of the University of Bologna, 'in recognition of research contributions characterized by both excellence and influence.'

Professor Freeden will take up his post in the School on January 1st 2013.
