Research Topic

Comparative Environmental Governance in the EU and the US.

This research focuses on exploring the differences in environmental governance in the European Union and the United States. Focusing on the analysis of the policy-processes related to carbon emissions reductions, this project will investigate the political mechanisms that have led the European Union to become the global leader in carbon reduction commitments. By specifically studying the formation of the European Union's Emissions Trading Scheme, this dissertation will provide insight on the role of knowledge in good governance. This research will also provide meaningful insight on the institutional differences between the United States and the European Union, and will assess both the EU and the US's authenticity in environmental management.
