An explanation of the processes leading to the adoption of a pro-US foreign policy by José María Aznar and Tony Blair from a comparative perspective.

My research centres on identifying a series of shared salient factors which, taken together, form processes that explain the adoption of a pro-US foreign policy, particularly regarding the war on terrorism and the war in Iraq, by the former Spanish Prime Minister, José María Aznar, and former British Prime Minister, Tony Blair.

The investigation will focus on three time periods, punctuated by the critical junctures of 11th September and the war in Iraq, in order to show how the two leaders progressed along the path towards the adoption of a pro-US foreign policy, due to the influence and significance of the aforementioned factors over the three periods.
