All our postgraduate courses are offered on a part-time basis (with the exception of MA Asian and International Studies). We do recognise the need that some part-time students fit their studies around their hours of work, and the modular courses offered by the School of Politics and International Relations allow some flexibility in the hours of attendance. Teaching and supervision are only offered during the normal working hours of the academic year.
Further details of the course of study can be found on the postgraduate prospectus.
The school welcomes applications by mature students. The PhD itself can also be undertaken as part-time study, consisting of six years research plus two years writing-up. Doctoral research can also be undertaken through long distance study. It is, however, the obligation of the student to come to the University of Nottingham several times per year for face-to-face supervisions.
