Peter Trepte will be representing PPRG on the Circle of Advisors established under the Procurement Innovation Challenge, an initiative of the World Bank Institute (WBI) in partnership with UN Procurement Capacity Development Centre (UNPCDC), Public Procurement Research Group, University of Nottingham Making Integrity Work (Tiri) andDeutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ)
The Procurement Innovation Challenge is a collaborative challenge to identify and showcase innovative approaches to procurement reform that aims to expand and strengthen an existing network of stakeholders and practitioners interested in public procurement reform. It aims to do so through an online knowledge collection mechanism through which practitioners and stakeholders from around the world are invited to submit 2 page online entries describing an innovative approach, process, initiative, policy or tool under one of four priority thematic areas. Submissions are welcomed up to the end of March 2012 and all the submitted case stories that meet the eligibility criteria will be published online on the Challenge web site. They will be reviewed by a Circle of Advisors or evaluators representing subject matter expertise in different areas that will select a finalist pool from which 5 top case story authors will be awarded a travel award to attend the International Open Contracting Conference.
These 5 top case story authors will also receive support to further develop their stories into a publication. These top case stories will be featured in the Challenge web site. A selection of 5 top finalist case stories will also be showcased at the Fiduciary Forum. In addition to these awards, an Innovation Award to participate in a UNDP Procurement Training will be given to the author with the most innovative case story. Among the case stories submitted before March 1, 2012 one case story will be awarded a one year electronic subscription to the Journal of Public Procurement (JoPP) and the award winning case story will be published in the journal.
All official case stories will be showcased in the ProAct community under the Collaborative Challenge Gallery and top finalists will be specially featured in ProAct’s homepage and in the WBI web sites.
