About The School of Psychology
The School of Psychology is consistently ranked amongst the top Psychology Schools in the United Kingdom and is among the leading centres for research and teaching in the world. Our teaching was rated as ‘excellent’ and our research was awarded a grade 5A (excellent) when the Higher Education Funding Council last assessed the School.
Our courses are carefully designed to provide a broad, thorough, challenging and, above all, stimulating grounding in the subject and its methods. Training in transferable skills is a priority, allowing graduates from our degrees to choose from a range of career options within the Psychological sciences, as a researcher, teacher or practitioner in clinical, educational, forensic or occupational psychology. Our graduates are much sought after by employers and the University is proud of its undergraduates, who become some of the most employable men and women in the United Kingdom.
The academic staff in the School have a very high international reputation in their fields and all are active scholars and teachers. At Nottingham we have always valued excellence in teaching, allied to a strong research base, and have consistently maintained small tutorial groups. Teaching is research-led, meaning that internationally recognized scientists present the lectures, tutorials, practical classes and seminars. Students studying within the school learn the latest discoveries in psychology by the people who made them.
We have an excellent library and four large computer laboratories containing the latest dual platform machines (hosting Mac OS and Windows) that are solely for the use of Psychology students.
The School has two introductory videos available online - one for home students , and one for international students .
