Description

Elizabeth Tunbridge from University of Oxford will be giving the seminar talk this week entitled 'COMT: cognition and beyond.'

The COMT gene has become one of the best-studied in psychiatry due to its role in regulating dopamine levels in the prefrontal cortex. I will review the evidence linking COMT and cognitive function, and show that COMT is also of significance in other brain regions and for other neural phenotypes. In addition, I will present our new data demonstrating that genetic variation in COMT alters the cognitive enhancing effects of COMT inhibition.
