School of Psychology

As part of international Brain Awareness Week, held annually in March, we invite A level students to visit
the department for a half-day session of talks, lab tours and hands-on experiments. These workshops are
designed to complement the A level Biology and Psychology curricula while introducing students to some

of the latest cutting-edge research in Psychology and Neuroscience.

We also visit local primary and secondary schools to give talks, lessons and assemblies on a wide range
of topics. These sessions are tailored to suit the age group and the needs of the school. Some of the
topics we have covered include:

  • An introduction to the brain
  • Electric brain cells
  • The body and the brain
  • Learning and memory
  • Attention
  • Aggression
  • Schizophrenia
  • Autism
Teachers: If you would like to take part in our Brain Awareness Week events, or arrange for one of our
