Not all students who complete a degree in psychology become professional psychologists. As graduates they have developed the problem solving, team working, communications and presentation skills that employers want.
In particular, the psychology programme at Nottingham develops rigorous methodological, analytic, and written skills, providing an excellent training for students interested in careers such as advertising, market research, management, social work or teaching. For those students who want careers as professional psychologists, the Nottingham degree with its options in applied psychology, provides a perfect grounding for proceeding to further postgraduate qualifications and careers in applied psychology, or in psychological research.
Please also be aware that we are not in a position to offer general careers advice. Further information about careers in psychology can be obtained from The British Psychological Society
The Psychology Network is developing a collection of career case studies to help illustrate for students the many ways in which they can use their psychology degrees. To date we have 17 which can be viewed at: http://www.psychology.heacademy.ac.uk/html/call_for_career_case_studies.asp .
