STRATEGY AND PLANNING COMMITTEE
(from 1 January 2012)
Terms of Reference
- The Committee shall advise Council on:
- the University's overall objectives and priorities
- strategies and policies to achieve those objectives
- plans to implement those strategies and policies, including academic and other resource allocation and management
plans
Main Activities
- To receive reports from other Council and Senate Committees as required,
for example Management Board, Finance Committee, and Research & Knowledge
Transfer Board
- To review planning proposals and to consider them in the light of wider
corporate and external factors
- To review the University's achievements, performance and management of risk
in relation to approved strategic objectives and plans
- To advise Council on the University's objectives and the scope of its activities
and priorities, particularly as expressed in the University Plan, and the
strategic framework within which Budget Units should develop their planning proposals
- To advise Management Board during development of its University Strategy
and Plan for review by the Council, including academic and other resource
allocation and management plans
- To monitor and evaluate external and internal developments with strategic
implications for the University
- To monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the University's systems and
procedures for developing strategies and plans, their implementation and,
as required, propose developments of those systems and procedures for review
and approval by Council
