The Department is organised into five major Divisions.
Academic Services
– the Division is headed by Robert Dowling and encompasses the following
functions: Registry, Examinations, Timetabling, Curriculum matters,
Secretariat to Senate and Council, Freedom of Information and Data Protection
issues, Quality Assurance, Complaints and Appeals, project management
of the new Student Management System.
Communications
and Marketing – the Division covers news, media relations, publications,
internal and external communications, web provision, corporate marketing,
events management and student communications. The Division is headed
by Emma Leech.
Human Resources
– the Human Resources Department is headed by Jaspal Kaur, Director
of HR. It provides strategy, policy, procedures and advice to support
both individual and managerial staff throughout employment at the University.
Planning and Management
Information – this unit, led by Dr Tom Loya, incorporates planning
activities, statistical reporting, student number returns and analysis,
driving the annual University planning process, preparation of the University
Plan, examining broader policy developments as well as undertaking surveys
of student opinion (under the auspices of the Survey Unit). Market intelligence
gathering and analysis, support for School and Central Support Service
Reviews together with support for a range of new project activities
as they emerge from Management Board and elsewhere are important additional
functions undertaken.
Student Operations and Support – this Division, headed by Stephen
Dudderidge, includes Student Services – covering Academic Support, Childcare,
Financial Support, the Disability Policy Advisory Unit and the Counselling
Service – the Centre for Career Development, Recruitment and Admissions,
Widening Participation, Sport and Physical Recreation, support and oversight
for the Warden system and student discipline. The Student Services Centres
are part of the Division’s operations.
