Manufacturing Technology Centre

Due to open in summer 2011, the world-class Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC) is a partnership between:

• The University of Nottingham
• The University of Birmingham
• Loughborough University
• TWI Ltd, the operating division of The Welding Institute

The project received a combined capital development of £40 million from Advantage West Midlands and East Midlands Development Agency (EMDA) ─ one of the largest public sector investments in manufacturing for many years ─ and is backed by some of the UK’s major global manufacturers, such as:

• Rolls-Royce
• Jaguar Land Rover
• Aero Engine Controls
• Airbus (UK)

The MTC, based at Ansty Park in Coventry, will provide resources and a high quality environment for the development and demonstration of new technologies on an industrial scale.

By leveraging university-derived research it will:

• provide facilities and skills to support industrial companies and their supply chains to bring about major improvements in manufacturing competitiveness
• quickly transfer knowledge into industry
