The Cleaner Fossil Energy and Carbon Capture Technologies Research Group’s primary incentive is to develop new, innovative methods to reduce fossil fuel emissions that are causing irreversible damage to the earth’s atmosphere.

Academics within the group are researching ways improve the process of capturing and storing Carbon Dioxide produced by burning fossil fuels. Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) research is essential to secure the long term viability of fossil fuels and reduce CO2 emissions, with the UK aiming to reduce these emissions by at least 80% (from the 1990 baseline) by 2050.
