Centre for Research in Arts, Creativity and Literacy (CRACL)

Postgraduate Research in CRACL

We support research into formal and informal learning in arts, creativity and literacies in schools, museums and galleries, arts organisations and communities.

We are primarily qualitative researchers with substantive expertise in ethnography, action research, practitioner and collaborative research, visual research and place-based methods. Our work often has an inter-disciplinary focus, so we sometimes co-supervise with other schools in the University.

The School of Education offers PhD (full-time and part-time) and a Professional Doctorate in Education (EdD).

Our doctoral researchers are usually ESRC or AHRC funded, funded by studentships from the University or by their governments or organisations, or self-funded.

If you are interested in doing research that makes a difference to the everyday lives of children and young people, teachers and artists, then we are really interested in talking with you.

For specific queries, please contact Professor Pat Thomson.
