Benign Fiesta: Wyndham Lewis's Texts, Contexts, and Aesthetics

11-13 September, 2017

Wyndham Lewis (1882-1957) was one of the twentieth century’s most innovative and most controversial avant-garde painters, writers, and theorists. This conference will mark the 60th anniversary of Lewis's death and is intended to be a scholarly celebration of his work.

The conference will include two linked events:

  • an editing symposium featuring presentations from scholars working on the Complete Critical Edition of Lewis's writings (commissioned by Oxford University Press); and
  • a traditional academic conference featuring 20-minute research presentations, for which a CFP will soon be circulated.
