The Centre for the Study of the Viking Age is pleased to announce the recent publication (in February 2016) of Byzantium and the Viking World, edited by member Monica White, of the Department of Russian and Slavonic Studies, with Jonathan Shepard and Fedir Androshchuk. This interdisciplinary volume, the first on the subject to appear since 1981, brings together work on subjects as diverse as archaeology, history, art history and literature relating to Byzantium and the Nordic, Baltic and East Slavonic lands between the ninth and the thirteenth centuries. At the formal launch in the Museum Gustavianum in Uppsala on 18 February, Dr White gave a talk entitled 'The View North from Constantinople'.
