Biography

E Bethan Davies is a Senior Research Fellow at the Institute of Mental Health, University of Nottingham and is based in the National Institute of Health Research MindTech MedTech Co-operative. MindTech focuses on research in technology innovation, design and evaluation in mental healthcare.

She is a chartered research psychologist with the BPS. Her background is in health psychology and brings her expertise and health psychology knowledge into a wide variety of projects.

Bethan's research interests and expertise lie across several areas, including:

  • Interventions for supporting physical and mental health and well-being of children, adolescents, and young people
  • Chronic illness/long-term conditions and their psychological management
  • Psychological/psychosocial interventions for tic disorders
  • The lived experience of neurodevelopmental disorders (e.g. Tourette syndrome, ADHD)
  • The role of digital technologies (e.g. online interventions, apps, online support groups) in supporting the mental health and well-being of of children, adolescents, and young people
  • University students' mental health
  • Evaluations of health promotion and prevention interventions, such as Mental Health First Aid
  • The role of digital technologies in health behaviour change and maintenance of behaviours
  • Systematic reviews and meta-analyses on array of topics, including mental health interventions, prevalence, applying health psychology theory to specific health issues

Teaching Summary

  • I have co-supervised three PhD students to completion, and am currently co-supervisor for one internal (Rosemary Reyneke) and one external (Danni Phoenix-Kane) PhD students
  • I am involved in teaching, assessment and supervision of students on the MSc Health Psychology course.
  • I am involved in assessment and supervision of students on the MSc Mental Health Research and Practice course.
  • I annually supervise third year BMedSci students for their honour's year research projects.
  • Personal Tutor for MSc Health Psychology students.
