Dr Neil Guha and Professor Guruprasad Aithal have won an NHS Innovation Challenge prize for improving diagnostic means to detect significant liver disease in the disease on behalf of the liver research team at the Nottingham Digestive Diseases Centre Biomedical Research Unit. The award, amounting to £100,000, was announced on 26 November 2013.
The researchers were awarded for a project piloting blood tests and a scan within local GP practices that seeks to replace a costly process of GP appointment, referral and bed-stay for biopsy and eventual treatment.Find out more.
