Horia Maior's research lies between the areas of Human Computer Interaction (HCI) and Human Factors. His PhD is focused on using direct measures of workload, using the noninvasive technique - neuroimaging technology functional Near Infrared Spectroscopy (fNIRS), to overcome the limitations of using subjective measures in real time.
