Travel Grant to attend the U21 ECR Workshop

Universitas21 logoThe UNUK International Office and Graduate School are offering a travel award to support one UK-campus based early career researcher/academic (level 4/5) to attend this three-day U21 conference hosted by Pontificia Universidad de Católica de Chile. The award will provide up to £1,500 to cover economy travel to Chile and subsistence for the successful UNUK-based applicant. The University of Nottingham will nominate up to three ECRs to attend the workshop. The nominations will be selected so that a representative from each campus (UK, Ningbo and Malaysia) will attend.

About the conference

4-6 October 2017

Pontificia Universidad de Católica de Chile, Chile

This three-day interdisciplinary conference on ‘Interculturality and Multiculturalism: the challenges for changing societies’ is open to early career research-only staff and junior academics from all faculties who meet the eligibility criteria (see below). The theme for the workshop will be “Interculturality and Multiculturalism: the challenges for changing societies” and will run from 4 to 6 October 2017, hosted by the Pontificia Universidad de Católica de Chile in Santiago, Chile.

There are at least two major social contexts that bring about challenges regarding interculturality and multiculturalism in changing societies: human migration and intergroup relations involving indigenous - non-indigenous communities.

The ECR workshop will address these concepts by stimulating discussion among participants and distinguished keynote speakers as well as academics that have developed research on these issues from diverse disciplines such as Philosophy, Social Psychology, Economy, History and Anthropology. In addition, there will be the opportunity for participants to learn about specific methodological tools involving quantitative and qualitative approaches and the opportunity to present their research via poster or Pecha Kucha presentations.

Eligibility: Delegates should have gained their doctorate within the last eight years and be employed by a U21 university in a research-related capacity.

Further information about the workshop can be found in the outline programme attached below. More information on this workshop can be found on the Universitas21 website.
