Driving Minibuses on University Business

Applicable to any member of staff who drives a minibus for their School/Department. This would include for fieldwork and other such trips. Further guidance PDF format is available.

Business Driving

It is important that anyone driving on University business takes note of the guidance contained in Driving on University Business PDF format. This must be read in conjunction with the University’s Business Travel Policy which can be found on Commercial Services workspace.

Use of Mobile Phones Whilst Driving

It is illegal to use a hand-held mobile phone whilst driving. Members of the University must not use hand-held mobile phones whilst driving any vehicle, including personally owned, university-owned or hired to the University, whilst driving on University business.

Bicycles

University policy PDF format is that bicycles must not be brought into University buildings for the following reasons:  

  • Maintaining clear emergency evacuation routes at all times
  • Minimising trips hazards
  • Minimising wear and tear on buildings

The University provides a number of secure, well-lit facilities on all campuses.

All cyclists are reminded that it is a legal requirement to use front and rear lights during poor light/darkness and it is advised that reflective clothing is worn. Wearing a cycle helmet is also advised.

E-Scooters

University policy PDF format is that permission for use of privately owned e-scooters on our campuses is not granted.
