ARUK gout grant

Academic Rheumatology has been awarded an Arthritis Research UK grant to undertake Phase 2 of the Nottingham Gout Treatment Trial.  The trial will examine the effectiveness of a nurse-led package of care of community-based people with gout, compared to ongoing standard GP led care.  The nurse-led package, which incorporates key elements of current guidelines for "best practice" management of gout was developed in Phase 1 of the study and was modified according to findings of a qualititative study examining potential barriers to care in patients with gout.
