Hi-Light trial for vitiligo
The HI-Light (Home Intervention of Light therapy) trial for the treatment of early/focal vitiligo
Frequently Asked Questions
What is vitiligo?
Vitiligo is a skin condition that causes white patches on the skin. It affects around 0.5% of the population worldwide, both children and adults.
What is the purpose of this trial?
The main purpose of the trial is to test the feasibility of running a future multi-centre RCT of these devices. We are interested in finding out if participants feel confident in receiving this treatment at home and whether or not people with vitiligo will be interested in taking part. An educational session will be provided by a research nurse outlining how to use the devices, how to assess side-effects of the treatment and how to complete the treatment diary.
Who is eligible?
Children (older than 5 years old) and adults with a few relatively small symmetrical patches of vitiligo.
Where is the study taking place?
The study is taking place in the East Midlands area. If you live in Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire or Leicester you may be eligible to take part. Please contact us (email: vitiligostudy@nottingham.ac.uk ) to find out more.
