European Group for Blood and Marrow Transplantation (EBMT)
This study is sponsored by the European Group for Blood and Marrow Transplantation (EBMT). The EBMT is a non-profit organisation based in Maastricht, The Netherlands, that was established in 1974 in order to allow scientists and physicians involved in clinical bone marrow transplantation to share their experience and develop co-operative studies. The EBMT aims to promote all aspects associated with the transplantation of haematopoietic stem cells from all donor sources and donor types including basic and clinical research, education, standardisation, quality control, and accreditation for transplant procedures.

European Crohn's and Colitis Organization (ECCO)
The study is being conducted by the European Crohn's and Colitis Organization (ECCO). ECCO is the umbrella organization of the national study groups performing and coordinating research work in the field of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Their goals include:

to promote, sponsor and steer European international research efforts in the field of IBD

to develope protocols for studies which can be performed in European centers

to organize education and exchange in the field of IBD

to develop cooperation with patient organizations sharing interest in IBD
-
to enhance European research quality in the field of IBD
-
to establish consensus and challenge dogmas in the field of IBD
-
to have a political voice in European and interact with the pharmaceutical industry
-
to educate 'nurse specialists' in IBD and promote this type of education
-
participate in the activities of the United European Gastroenterology Federation UEGF and in the organization of annual UEGW

Nottingham Digestive Diseases Centre (NDDC)
The Chief Investigator, and Study Administration Office, are part of the Nottingham Digestive Diseases Centre (formerly known as the Wolfson Digestive Diseases Centre) of the University of Nottingham. The Wolfson Digestive Diseases Centre was formed in 2003 following an external review of research in the University and significant funding from the Wolfson Foundation. It comprises the Medical Division of Gastroenterology (rated 5* - the top international research grading – in the last national research assessment exercise) the Divisions of GI Surgery in Nottingham and Derby, the academic Unit of Cancer Studies, the Cytokine Biology Group and the Liver Research Group. Together, this comprises possibly the largest integrated GI research grouping in the UK.

Broad Medical Research Programme
The study is funded by a grant from the Broad Medical Research Programme, created by The Eli and Edythe L. Broad Foundation. The programme provides funds for innovative basic and clinical research that will lead to improvements in the diagnosis, therapy and prevention of Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis.
