The Division of Pre-Clinical Oncology is a multi-disciplinary research centre working on basic biological and translational areas of oncology. The Division has academic funding from both Cancer Charities and Research Councils and has multiple interactions with Industry in the pre-clinical evaluation of new anti-cancer agents in patient-relevant models. The activities of the Division also facilitate excellent collaborations with Drug Discovery, Drug Delivery and Clinical Oncology research activities.

A new initiative is the formation of an Ex-Vivo Cancer Pharmacology Centre of Excellence which will allow further advances in the clinical predictivity and range of cancer models.
PRECOS Limited (Pre-Clinical Oncology Services) is a spin out company from the Division whose mission is to develop pre-clinical cancer models relevant to each aspect of cancer progression including pre-malignant lesions, primary tumours and metastasis of a wide range of cancer types.
