Confocal Microscopy

The Division of Therapeutics and Molecular Medicine (TMM) is making available its Improvision spinning disk confocal system to other departments.

Brief Description

This high speed imaging system has lower toxicity and photobleaching than conventional scanning microscopes, making it ideal for imaging live cells. The system is equipped with an environmental chamber (temperature and C02 controlled) and an electronic stage with memory capability.

Applications

High speed imaging (maximum 32 images per second)

3D/4D imaging of multi-channel live/fixed samples

3D ratio imaging

3D FRET imaging

3D calcium imaging

3D and 4D morphological measurements

3D tracking of moving objects

General Information

The user will be liable for any repairs, if these are a direct result of misuse.

Any experiment involving the use of genetically modified organisms must be covered by a current GMAG assessment,  a copy of which must be given to Julie Hawley or Caroline Swan.

Only Category 1 GMAG assessed work can be carried out in TMM.
