Research Summary

The title of my PhD thesis was the "Origin of symptoms in diverticular disease". This research has resulted in a further successful grant applications for projects which are currently ongoing.

As I aim to pursue a career in academic HPB surgery, I am applying the novel techniques used in previous projects to assess visceral hypersensitivity in pancreatic and biliary disease. We are currently running projects on neuropeptide changes in cholecystitis and pancreatitis and the use of fMRI to assess sphincter of Oddi dysfunction.
