Event Title
Global Food Security
Venue
The Auditorium, London ZEDpavilion, Shanghai Expo
Summary
Global food security is a priority topic of national and international standing. The issue is central to current policies being pursued by the World Health Organisation and World Bank. The population of the planet is expected to approach 9 billion by 2050 and one of our fundamental challenges is to ensure a sustainable, secure food supply. This can only be achieved through the formulation and delivery of a robust global food security strategy.
No university in the UK is better placed than Nottingham to carry out multidisciplinary food security research. During a period of global retrenchment in agricultural and food-related research, Nottingham has had the foresight to invest in its facilities and encourage the development of research activities that underpin production, from optimising primary production via state-of-the-art agricultural practices, to utilising novel manufacturing techniques to minimise resource utilisation and maximise the nutritional value of food.
Academics, businesses and students are welcome to join this event.
