New book on dealing with trauma

Professor Stephen Joseph's latest book What doesn't kill us: The new psychology of posttraumatic growth is published next week. The book challenges conventional wisdom about traumatic events, demonstrating that these can be a catalyst for positive change.

Professor Joseph draws upon twenty years of research into posttraumatic growth, the wisdom of ancient philosophers, the insights of evolutionary biologists, and the optimism of positive psychologists, to show how all of us can navigate change and adversity — traumatic or otherwise — to find new meaning, purpose, and direction in life.
