Research grants totalling £90,000 have been awarded for projects in the School.
Professor Harry Ferguson has been awarded £80,000 by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) to undertake a project titled, "Performing child protection; Social Workers' experiences of home visiting and relating to children and parents in the home". The aim of the study is to deepen understandings of social work and child protection through focusing on practitioners' experiences of doing the work and how they go about protecting children in their homes.
Professor Bruce Stafford has been awarded £10,000 to undertake research for the States of Guernsey titled "Provision of a Disability Needs System". People with a disability can face indirect and direct discrimination, harassment and victimisation in a wide range of social and economic settings. The States of Guernsey has commissioned research in to the level of need and gaps in services for people who are disabled.
