Disability information

The University of Nottingham is committed to promoting access for students who have a disability, dyslexia and/or a long-term medical condition. Services provided aim to enable students to fulfill the inherent requirements of the course as independently as possible. Moreover, here in the School of Sociology and Social Policy we are extremely committed to advising and supporting such students at both undergraduate and postgraduate level in order to help them to achieve their full academic potential.

What students need to do

It is a student’s responsibility to ensure that the University is aware of their individual requirements, and early disclosure is essential to ensure the timely provision of appropriate support services. Students who have a disability, specific learning difficulty (such as dyslexia) and/or long-term medical condition are encouraged to disclose these at point of application to the University. Then on arrival students are also asked to inform their personal tutor and/or the Disability Liaison Officer for the School of their needs so we can make sure that all the relevant sources of information and support are available. The School ensures that personal information remains confidential, but any information regarding necessary support is shared on a need-to-know basis with student's permission.
